Biografía

Es el director del Departamento de Máquinas Eléctricas y Sistemas de Potencia de la Escuela de Ingeniería Eléctrica de la Universidad de Costa Rica, y el coordinador del Laboratorio de Investigación de Potencia y Energía (EPERLab) de la Universidad de Costa Rica. El Dr. Quirós es ingeniero licenciado de la Universidad de Costa Rica. Obtuvo el título de doctorado en sistemas eléctricos de potencia de la Universidad de Manchester, Inglaterra. Además, tiene un posdoctorado de dos años en integración de vehículos eléctricos en la misma universidad. El Dr. Quirós es experto en planificación energética, descarbonización, electromovilidad y desarrollo de estrategias de largo plazo bajas en carbono. Es consultor internacional para instituciones como el Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo, el Banco Mundial, las Naciones Unidas, la GIZ, y la Plataforma 2050. El Dr. Quirós es investigador activo con diversas publicaciones científicas internacionales. Es miembro del Colegio Federado de Ingenieros y Arquitectos de Costa Rica y miembro senior del Instituto de Ingenieros Eléctricos y Electrónicos (IEEE).
