Biografía

Orlando Arrieta recibió los títulos de Bachiller y Licenciado en Ingeniería Eléctrica, de la Universidad de Costa Rica, en 2003 y 2006 respectivamente. En 2007 obtiene el grado de Máster en Ingeniería de Sistemas y Automática y en 2010 el de Doctor, ambos por la Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona, España, donde también realizó estudios postdoctorales. Cuenta además con una maestría en Administración y Dirección de Empresas, de la Universidad de Costa Rica. Labora desde el 2003 en el Departamento de Automática, de la Escuela de Ingeniería Eléctrica, de la Universidad de Costa Rica, alcanzando en 2015 el rango de Catedrático. Es Investigador del Instituto de Investigaciones en Ingeniería (INII) y del Laboratorio de Investigación en Ingeniería de Control (CERLab). Sus intereses de investigación se centran en el Control de Procesos, aplicados al Control PID. Actualmente es el Decano de la Facultad de Ingeniería y también ha ocupado los cargos de Director de la Escuela de Ingeniería Eléctrica, Director del Departamento de Automática, de la Escuela de Ingeniería Eléctrica, Vicedecano del Sistema de Estudios de Posgrado, Vicedecano de la Facultad de Ingeniería y Subdirector del Instituto de Investigaciones en Ingeniería, de la Universidad de Costa Rica.
